Appliqué (onlay)
Decorative, carved wood piece applied to cabinet surface.
Batten
Narrow wooden strip that covers or strengthens the point where two lumber pieces meet.
Bead (beaded panel)
Narrow moulding strip with rounded edge (180-degree radius) used as a door or panel outline.
Capital
Decorative element at top of a column.
Cathedral Arch
Arch shaped to look like window of a church.
CBD
Certified Bath Designer
CKD
Certified Kitchen Designer
Classic Crown (moulding)
Moulding with intricate details, seen at the top of furniture or wall cabinets.
Concealed Hinge
A hinge hidden by the cabinet exterior, fastened on the inside of the door and end of the cabinet panel.
Conversion Varnish
A chemical finish sprayed onto wood, then bonded when heated in an oven; used as a middle coat, top coat or both.
Cup Hinge
A hinge set into a hollow round area in the back of a full-overlay door and attached to the door frame.
